Backlit Keyboard Not Turning On


 

Possible Causes:

  • Disabled keyboard backlight.
  • Faulty drivers or settings.
  • Hardware malfunction.

Solutions:

  1. Use the Keyboard Shortcut:

    • Most ASUS laptops use Fn + F4 (or Fn + F3) to adjust keyboard brightness. Try this combination to toggle the backlight.
    • Refer to your laptop's manual for specific shortcuts.
  2. Check Keyboard Settings:

    • Open MyASUS or Armoury Crate (ASUS’s support tools).
    • Navigate to the Customization or Keyboard section and check if the backlight is enabled.
  3. Update ATK Package Driver:

    • The ATK Package controls special function keys:
      • Go to the ASUS support website.
      • Download and install the latest ATK Package for your laptop model.
      • Restart the laptop after installation.
  4. Check BIOS Settings:

    • Restart your laptop and press F2 or Del to enter BIOS.
    • Ensure the Keyboard Illumination setting is enabled.
    • Save changes and restart.
  5. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
    • Hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
    • Reconnect power and restart the laptop.
